Overview

Johnson Voorsanger Productions developed ToeJam & Earl and Sega published it for the Mega Drive and Genesis in 1991. The game follows two alien rappers, ToeJam and Earl, who crash-land on Earth after their spaceship breaks apart and scatters its pieces across multiple floating levels. Players must search through randomly generated worlds to collect the missing ship components and escape the planet. What sets ToeJam & Earl apart from most games of its era is its roguelike structure, which was extremely rare for console titles at the time. Each playthrough generates a fresh map layout, meaning no two runs feel exactly the same.
