Overview
Resident Evil Revelations is a survival horror game made by Capcom. The story takes place between the events of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, following Jill Valentine and her partner Parker Luciani as they search for Chris Redfield aboard a derelict cruise ship called the Queen Zenobia. Players explore tight corridors, flooded rooms, and shadowy passageways while fighting off mutated creatures known as Ooze. The pacing mixes slow exploration with sudden combat encounters, bringing back the classic tension that made the early Resident Evil titles popular. A handheld device called the Genesis scanner lets players examine the environment for hidden items and check enemies for extra ammunition. The story splits into short episodic chapters, each ending with a recap that mimics a television drama. This format keeps the plot moving and gives players short breaks between heavy moments. The atmosphere on the ship feels heavy and claustrophobic, with creaking metal, flickering lights, and ambient sounds that build constant dread throughout every chapter of the campaign.
The game offers a main Campaign mode along with a separate side mode called Raid. Raid mode tasks players with replaying levels from the campaign while battling stronger enemies, collecting weapons, and leveling up their character. Players can join a friend in online or local co-op for this mode, fighting through stages together and sharing loot drops. Weapons can be customized using parts that boost firepower, accuracy, or magazine size, letting fans build loadouts that match their playstyle. The campaign includes a wide cast of playable characters such as Chris Redfield, Keith Lumley, and Quint Cetcham, each with their own short missions. Levels move between the cruise ship, snowy mountain peaks, an old church, and other memorable spots across the story. Boss fights bring tough mutant creatures that demand careful aim and quick footwork to defeat. Resident Evil Revelations stands as a strong return to the slower, scarier roots of the series, giving fans of both classic and action era games a satisfying mix of fear and firepower.
