Overview
Square Enix developed and published Final Fantasy, a classic Japanese role-playing game that first launched in 1987 and later received a complete remake for the PlayStation Portable as the 20th Anniversary Edition in 2007. The game puts players in command of four Warriors of Light, heroes that prophecy chose to travel the world, restore four elemental crystals that an evil force darkened, and defeat the chaos threatening all life. Players pick their party of four from six available job classes at the start of the game, choosing between fighters, thieves, monks, white mages, black mages, and red mages, then carry that group through the full adventure from start to finish. This early decision shapes every battle and dungeon the party faces. The PSP release adds updated visuals, remastered music, a redesigned bestiary, and exclusive bonus dungeons that earlier versions never had, making it the most complete version of the game that started one of gaming’s biggest franchises.
The PSP version of Final Fantasy includes two additional dungeon modes called Soul of Chaos and the Labyrinth of Time, which add dozens of bonus floors filled with tough enemies and rare rewards that go well beyond the main story campaign. The core progression system has players earning experience points and gold from random battles, then spending that gold on better weapons, armor, and magic spells at shops in towns across the world map. At specific story milestones, each character class upgrades into a stronger advanced form with new equipment slots and higher stats, giving the whole party a meaningful surge in power. The world covers continents, oceans, and sky routes, with dungeons that range from earth caves to underwater temples and sky fortresses. Final Fantasy on PSP delivers a compact but content-rich RPG experience that feels fresh and exciting for first-time players while still rewarding veterans who grew up with the original release.
