GAU Entertainment developed Ranger X, a side-scrolling action game that Sega published for the Sega Mega Drive and Genesis in 1993. Players control a powerful combat mech called Ex-Up, a giant armored robot that fights off an alien invasion threatening Earth. The game stands out from other action titles of its era through its light-sourcing system, where the mech’s appearance and shadows shift based on the sun’s position throughout each stage.
